Composers Concordance presents its 7th Annual Festival, entitled ‘Art of Sound’. Inspired by contemporary art in NYC, the festival consists of five concerts, to be held at a wide array of venues.
Composers Concordance continues its ‘Art Of Sound’ festival with the multimedia event entitled ‘Andy Warhol: Tap Dancer.’ The compelling statement from Andy Warhol: “I never wanted to be a painter; I wanted to be a tap dancer,” serves as the basis for the program, featuring the acclaimed tap dancer and body percussionist Max Pollak. 4/25/2018 – I Live Here Now: A Stand-up Comedy Show
If there’s one thing that unites all New Yorkers it’s a hatred of all things New York. Let’s face it, those who don’t live here are not likely to commiserate with us. The rent is too damn high to deal with train shutdowns, lost tourists, and shitty roommates. Not to mention—actual shit. You’ll never know what you’ll see on the sidewalks, and there are some things that just cannot be unseen. Yet, the longer we live here, the easier it gets and we learn to roll with all the punches this city throws our way.
So, in the spirit of learning to live with some sense of dignity, I Live Here Now brings together your favorite city-dwelling comedians you’ve seen on Conan, The Late Show, and Comedy Central to explore why misery loves company—as they come together to share their experiences living in New York City. Because, whether you believe it or not, we’ve all come to adjust to this love-hate relationship we have with this nasty city. And, deep inside we know we cannot see a future anywhere else. Especially LA.
I Live Here Now is a stand-up comedy show held on the last Wednesday of every month at Wicked Willy’s and brought to you by New York Weekly. Doors 7:00pm / Show 7:30pm

4/26/2018 – Girl on Fire: Musical Mosaic of Poetry and Song
Girl on Fire is a multifaceted artistic and musical mosaic, in which poetry and song support and enhance each other, using the same form and structure, to create a complex but rounded composition. This evening -length theatrical work looks at a young woman whose experience of life is so extreme, that throughout her harrowing physical and emotional journey to redemption, she feels as if she is literally on fire. Words and music play with textures within the storyline, with a great deal of stylistic diversity, as they follow the themes explored on the way. The spirituality, the sea, the fire, the equal amounts of exquisite physical and emotional pain, the fearless candor, are part of observations and musings set both in a figurative world and in the reality of 21st-century life, from struggle to salvation.
Theodore Wiprud began composing music for poetry by Emma Stace Darling in 2012. Together, they have performed various versions of the work in New York and in England over the past two years. The performance at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is the fullest yet presented.

4/29/2018 – Classical Sundays: Nora Fischer, Ragazze Quartet, and Remco Menting The Secret Diary of Nora Plain
The Secret Diary of Nora Plain is a song cycle that tells the intimate story of a girl who tries to lead her own life in a world that relentlessly encroaches on her innermost thoughts and feelings. The music tells a personal and heartbreaking narrative about the relationship between society, privacy, paranoia and eroticism.
The sultry sounds of a string quartet and the unpredictable rhythms of a jazz drummer provide the texture of the piece, performed by the adventurous singer Nora Fischer, the Ragazze Quartet and Remco Menting. The lyrics were written by Dutch singer-songwriter Lucky Fonz III, and the music by composer Morris Kliphuis.
The ensemble is inspired by the song cycles of Franz Schubert as well as by the Juliet Letters by Elvis Costello & The Brodsky Quartet. The Secret Diary of Nora Plain gives new life to these formulae in a groundbreaking project with lyrics and music of our own time.
